Harrow-on-the-Hill
This is a particularly busy section of the Metropolitan Line created by Joshua Coupe who is a driver on this line. The timetable represents a full day’s working, and was a joint effort between Josh and me [Albert]. There are four separate segments – 06:00 until 08:00 with all services at a 10 minute intervals; 08:00 until 16:00 with services at 5, 7 and 10 minute intervals; 16:00 until 19:00 at 10 minute intervals, and finally 19:00 until midnight at 5, 7 and 10 minute intervals.

Fast services are denoted by headcodes beginning with “1”, and local services begin with “2”. The headcode letter in general denotes the destination – “B” = towards Baker Street, “U” = towards Uxbridge, and “C” = towards Chesham. “H” is the exception to this rule in that it denotes services to and from Harrow-on-the-Hill that use the reversing siding. The National Rail lines to and from Marylebone are included for completeness, no timetabled services currently use these lines, therefore all services towards Chesham must use the local lines that run through North Harrow. All platforms at Harrow should be used during off-peak as the signallers normally put a train in a platform and leave it there until track is ready.
Things get pretty hectic during the high frequency periods and some delays are inevitable, but Josh points out that although he is often held outside Harrow it is possible to make up time outside this area. Enjoy!!
