Littlehampton station is situated at the end of a short branch off the West Coastway Line between Brighton and Portsmouth. The station has four platforms and is adjacent to a small depot with a carriage washing machine, so sees plenty of early morning and late night movements to prepare trains for the next day's service.

In 1846 a station called Arundel & Littlehampton opened in 1846 on the Brighton - Portsmouth Line (now known as the West Coastway Line). In 1863 a spur into town opened, with the new Littlehampton station at the end. At the same time the Arun Valley Line from Horsham reached the West Coastway Line, joining at Arundel Junction. Shortly after the original Arundel & Littlehampton station was closed.
Originally the Littlehampton branch could only be accessed from the west via Ford Junction. In 1887 the third side of the triangle was opened, between Littlehampton Junction and Arundel Junction.
The area was originally controlled by multiple signalboxes, but is now covered by just Littlehampton signalbox and Arundel signal panel.

A timetable representing Wednesday 25th February 2026 has been included, starting at 04:20 and running until the final service at roughly 01:30. There's a surprisingly intensive passenge service across Arundel Junction, as well as a couple of freight and engineering trains included. All passenger services are operated by Southern.

Operational Tips
- Platform allocations have been provided for Littlehampton. It's advised to use these where possible, even if that means trains sharing platforms.
- Always check train descriptions for via points - particularly for trains going to Littlehampton. When a via point is reached the train's description will update - sometimes this will include a new via point to take note of so keep checking!
- Keep an eye on trains entering the area, particularly from Brighton as these will reach the level crossing very quickly.
- Don't be afraid to hold trains at red signals if necessary to keep them in the correct order. In particular trains from London Victoria to Portsmouth Harbour tend to need to wait at Arundel Jn while the preceding Brighton to Southampton Central train calls at Ford.
- Be careful with trains in Littlehampton depot. In particular note that Littlehampton Sidings can only be accessed from certain tracks in Littlehampton Shed - don't fill these lines up too early in the evening.
